Club History
Location
Swansea Football Club Inc. is located in Channel Street Swansea, at the entrance of Lake Macquarie NSW Australia.
Formation
Soccer (Football) started in Swansea with a junior club; formed in 1950 this club was called Swansea Workers Club until it changed its name to Swansea Junior Soccer Club in 1974 and incorporated in 1988.
In 1973 a senior club started, this club was called Swansea Workers Soccer Club until 1984 when it changed its name to Swansea United Soccer Club and then to Swansea United Football Club Inc.
The two clubs then amalgamated in 1996 and called Swansea Soccer Club In., where players could progress from U/6 to senior teams within the one club.
In 2007 the club decided to change its name to align with the world name and is now called Swansea Football Club Inc.
Changes
Over the years we have seen many changes to both the playing area and amenities. From one ground with a weather board building which housed a canteen and change rooms, to a complex which now has three full size fields with a brick building for canteen, change rooms, gear shed and amenities.
Two of the fields now have lights suitable for night competition matches and the third suitable for training.
All fields have a fully automated in ground watering system.
A water catchment system has also been installed and the rainwater will be used for flushing toilets and cleaning.
The Chapman Oval Complex, now includes a skate park, the new extensions to the amenities are complete and the 80 car sealed car park is complete. The amenities include extra change rooms to accommodate the ever increasing female teams, canteen upgrade and public toilets. Swansea now have possibly the best complex in the area.
2017 saw the clubhouse named the Wayne Broadbent Clubhouse after he passed away in 2016. He tirelessly volunteered for over 42 years and the club would not be where it is today without his input.
